What is Uechi-Ryu Karate?
Uechi-Ryu karate is a traditional style of Okinawan karate that is half-hard, half-soft and has roots in southern Chinese kung fu.
Can I evaluate the class before signing up?
Yes. Simply show up at the school when class is in session. Class times can be found here.
What do I need to begin training?
It is recommended that you speak with the head instructor first. He will provide you with the information you need to begin your training.
What about a uniform?
The Japanese karate training uniform is called a "gi" (gee). During the first month of your training you may wear appropriate clothing of your choice to train in. Upon completion of your first month of training, and if you decide to continue training, a gi and belt will be provided to you.
What is the cost?
Cost for the class is $45.00 per month due at the beginning of each month.
Am I required to sign a contract?
No. All obligations are handled on a month-by-month basis.
Is Merced Uechi-Ryu Karate-Do tournament oriented?
No, we do not teach sport oriented forms of karate. Merced Uechi-Ryu Karate-Do teaches a traditional form of Okinawan karate.
